Building for Tomorrow

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Joseph Parish and Elementary School,

When the pastor of St. Joseph Church welcomed parishioners on
March 19th, 1966, there was much to celebrate. From humble beginnings as a mission of neighboring parishes and its establishment as a canonical parish in 1917, St. Joseph’s had grown to include a welcoming parish center, a thriving school, and a church that could accommodate nearly 1,000 worshippers.

Now, 50 years later, as our parish nears its 100th Anniversary, we continue to celebrate, share, and live the Gospel values of Jesus Christ. With a rich sacramental life, programs in religious education and faith formation, and academically excellent Catholic elementary and middle schools, St. Joseph’s community continues to resonate with the faith and belief of all who came before.

Today, the parish seeks to undertake renovations which will allow it to better serve and educate its faith community. We are conducting a capital campaign to raise the funds necessary to address critical capital projects within the church and elementary school building. It is expected that the work we will undertake as a result of the campaign will have a dramatic impact on our ministries, the future education of our children and the condition of our current facilities for generations to come. At this time, I ask you to consider what you can do to help at this special moment in our history.

While our church is in good repair, accessibility for all who wish to participate in the daily sacraments is a serious issue. Our greatest need is the addition of an elevator which will provide access to the lower church. Renovations to the vestibule will accommodate this change and a new handicapped accessible restroom will be installed. The elementary school facility, so welcoming in 1954, is clearly in need of updates that can accommodate its spiritual, academic, and extracurricular programs. At this time, we seek to renovate the lower level of the school, adding improved teaching space and learning technology that will provide our students with a solid foundation for the future.  We also seek to improve the outdoor space which will allow students to play and to grow as a community.

Please take a moment to review the materials which were mailed out and are also linked to the right of this page. I ask you to look into your heart, and see the needs of our faith community when considering your donation and pledge to St. Joseph Parish. I pray this endeavor can be one of equal sacrifice for us all. We are deeply grateful for all you have done in the past and hope that you will assist us as we strengthen our parish for future generations.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. David C. Michael, Pastor

Capital Campaign Prayer

God our Heavenly Father, we come to You in faith, ready to bring about a new and bold endeavor as we look into the future of our beloved parish.

Building the kingdom of God on earth is Your will and our privilege. Please bless the efforts of this campaign, to extend the work of spiritual renewal in our church and in our community.

Jesus, our Redeemer, encourage and guide us. Open our hearts to be generous because of our love for You.

Holy Spirit, our Sanctifier, empower us to carry out our plan for this Campaign. May Your goodness be upon us, and give success to the work of our hands.

St. Joseph, our Patron, guide our thoughts, and increase our understanding of the opportunity and responsibility before us.

These are challenging financial times in the history of our nation, and we know that whatever we give will be a great sacrifice.

Therefore, keep us ever mindful of the need, mission, and purpose of this parish, a parish that has faithfully served You and Your people.

Amen.
